Emergency Responders on Campus: From time to time, emergency personnel may be on campus for medical situations or safety reasons. Please know that moving forward not all of these visits will result in a district-wide notification. We will only send a notification if: -There is a disruption to the school day (such as an evacuation or lockdown), -The incident is highly visible and may raise concern, or -Additional communication is needed to keep families accurately informed. If the situation involves only one student and does not impact others, the school will contact that child’s parent or guardian directly. Thank you for your understanding and continued support in helping us keep our schools safe and focused on learning. -AMSD

Dear Tiger Community, We would like to take a moment to clarify the purpose behind the "emergency incident" alert notifications, particularly in light of recent questions and concerns. We understand that seeing emergency vehicles on a school campus can understandably cause concern for families and the broader community. To ease worries and promote transparency, we aim to provide notifications about incidents on campus whenever we can. In instances where a student experiences a medical emergency—whether it’s a minor injury or a more serious situation—the Aztec School Health Team assesses the need for further medical attention. If necessary, Emergency Services are contacted to ensure the well-being of the student. Our priority is always to work closely with the impacted family and Emergency Services to address the situation quickly and effectively. Once the situation is under control and the student is safe, we send out an alert to keep the community informed. At the same time, please know that we prioritize the privacy and safety of the student involved, which is why specific details are kept confidential. We appreciate your understanding and support as we navigate these sensitive situations while keeping the best interests of our students and staff at heart. Sincerely, Aztec Municipal School District
